Need a junk 4chan 10 bolt
Im going to attempt a 10bolt/8.8 hybrid and am in need of a rear to scavenge from.
The only parts that really need to be intact are:
1. Axle ABS rings
2. Axle tubes
3. Backing plates
If anyone has a blown 4 channel, id love to take it off your hands. Just a low buck experiment lol

Full explorer rears go for ~$200-400, that's LSD, 31 spline and 3.73's. With the 12 bolt you would still need to purchase the internals.
T/A mount $40 from Hiltsy (tech member)
Custom Axles $300
Welding free
Then you have a sub $1000 rearend.

Sweet. The only other member that I knew that would occasionally make them was cam, and with the price that he wants (which is understandable for all of the work that is required), it made the rear end, just as much as a 12 bolt.
$40 for the TA mount definitely make it a nice DIY project.
Do you have any pics of his mounts?

Find hiltsy on here he has a thread detailing every step.
There is also one other way that does not rely on a welded on t/a. It is to use a mustang housing and bolt on t/a

Weld-On T/A mount (Explorer housing)
https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...-ta-mount.html
Bolt-on Mustang T/A (Mustang housing)
https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...8-project.html
The axle tubes/cases are different sizes for these two housing so each method goes with a specific housing.

Well looks like the 8.8 project might be out the window. My dad just got me a 9" third member, 35 spline full spool, and billet pinion support.
Now i just need a housing and axles..... Jeez just when you decide one thing another thing comes along and makes a different decision for you. I guess i'll eventually toss in a locker so i can use the ABS and TCS.

Yeah it's in the mail. $40 and you can come get it no shipping fee. I'm in Sylmar now, less than 20mins from pasadena btw.

Awesome, let me know when it comes in. I work in Pacoima, which IIRC was not too far from you. Or did you move?
Adam, I traded my Textralia with a member for a 4ch 10 bolt and some cash.
My Torsen was starting to pop in reverse.
I went to disassemble the rear and it was full of (rain?) water, so I going to have to completely rebuild it. I have all new Timken bearings, overhaul kit and 4.10s.
Now I need to get some 3.73's since I'm keeping the auto for the time being.
I'm kind of waiting to see what happens next year with the SMOG changes and the ODB2 scanning before deciding whether or not to change over.
