Help with Insurance - Hail Damage.
Hi!
Our owned Honda Civic'12 got Hail damage, which the assessor estimated at $2700. With our $2K deductible, he wrote us a check for $700, which we did NOT cache yet.
He wrote to REPLACE the hood (that also has a rock-chip), and PDR the roof & trunk. But we found a local PDR shop that can fix the car for $1200 (without replacing the hood - just doing PDR).
Can we choose to do the PDR? Will the insurance follow up on the repair?
Will this result in loss of insurance coverage or warranty (paint/body) for the next hail (or crash or other) damage - especially to the hood, since it will not be the new hood with new paint, that the insurance recommended?
Can the Insurance find out we did not replace the hood?
What will Carfax show? New hood or PDR hood?
Any help, please?
Thank you!

If you own it outright, then yes, you can pocket the cash.

We own the car. But I heard that the insurance may NOT cover future damages to the paint, or by hail of the hood, since it was never replaced. Also, how will they know if and how well it was repaired?
We'd like to keep it in a comprehensive plan (and probably with lower deductible this time ...)
