Default F-body rear end repair in East Bay area

Hi everyone, I am looking for a reliable shop to service the tired old 10 bolt in my TA. I've had it checked out but rear end shops want $700 just for installing new bearings and seals. Can anyone recommend a mechanic who won't charge an arm and a leg for this work?

That seems iover priced. I did a complete rear end master kit on mine when I bought it. I want to say it was 150 maybe 200. It took my mechanic 2 hours to do. Id say a fair price is def in the 400-500 range.

Yup that definitely is "lover" priced ! I don't want that kinda love from my mechanic LOL. You paid 150-200 including labor? Who's your mechanic?

I did but that's not typical. He's my best friend that runs a shop with his dad. He really encouraged me building another Z28. We're building a low compression iron 370 right now

I had my rear end serviced by The Rear End Shop in Livermore. They installed new gears and checked out if I needed anything was needed. I'm satisfied with their work.

I got a quote from them and it's way more than I can afford. I understand their work is top notch, but I just can't spend that kind of money right now.

You could always do it yourself. It's really not the hardest thing ever. Only part that takes effort really is shimming it right. That's not even hard just time consuming if you do it right.

Oh I do have the skills to do it myself but I lack the tools and the space at my apartment. Pretty sure the management here wouldn't appreciate seeing my car on jack stands with the rear end taken apart LOL.
