Default Need to pass CA smog with 224 cam

I have a few months before the car is due which is why I want to address this now. I have TR224 114 LSA with stock tune on a 98 ls1. Has anyone passed CA smog without it getting tuned or other comparable small cam? Everything else is good to go (ie. stock manifolds, stock cats, all smog equipment installed, no codes). The exhaust periodically gets a sulphur smell which from my research suggest the cats are being affected by the rich air/fuel mixture from the cam and can eventually fail. Any input would be appreciated.

Get someone to pass it for 150-250 and call it a day?

Get it tuned and you should be able to pass no problem.

Why are you running around with an aftermarket cam without having it tuned? Do you realize how much power you have left on the table without having the car tuned?

So what was the outcome? I'm curious to know.

It actually passed smog at about stock readings. Still looking and ready to book a northern california tuner to dyno tune the car. Any suggestions welcome.

Passed smog, no tune on 98 ls1 with 224 on 114 for years I always wondered about this cam for CA the biggest cars in all the reads here on tech this biggest cam you can use. Shiet past couple weeks I been reading all over the place for smog legal h/c/i setup looking biggest cam and headwork in 01 Silverado 5.3 using stock manifolds.
