Default California Long Tube headers

Are there any companies that will make long tube headers for my LS1 that will pass California emissions standards and the visual checks. Please say yes! I think that their is probably no way i can pass a visual check.

No way! Long tubes relocate your cats further away from the head flange area, increasing warm up time and causing more emission on start up.

The headers tuck in real nice so how will they know what you got. Why not pass smog then install headers, people have write-ups on how to install headers and you got people that can advice you with the install at this site.

If you want to go with shorty headers they will pass smog and visual. Edelbrock makes them for California and you should feel a power difference maybe not as dramatic as LT but noticable.

The only way you could pass a visual is if the shop does not know what to look for. If they do you lose. If you pass visual you would need to make sure that the cats are warmed up. Don't let the car sit for too long before they test it otherwise you'll fail the tailpipe test. Shorties are an option but if you have an 01 or 02 the stockers are just as good.

The EPA argument about moving the Cats is a bunch of crap. The Cat on my driver side is sort of close to the manifold but the Passenger side Cat is WAYyyyy back down line. The Cats on my 98 has 240 seconds to warm up and tell the computer they are working. Putting the Cats up on the collector of LT's would average making them closer than they are now. The Cats will work fine with LT's; the EPA just likes to screw with us.

It's physically impossible to make a long tube header that passes CA emmisions standards... Enough said.

Don't leave out the 00's. They are the same as the 01 and 02's without the egr. It's just the 98's and 99's that suck.
