PRODUCTION PLANNER

Department: Planning & Purchasing Department
Reports To: General Manager

Purpose
To prepare the Production Plan based upon available forecast requirements, other relevant sources, and management expectations. To interface between the manufacturing/operations, purchasing, planning and inventory control functions to determine the most efficient Production Plan to achieve finished goods results. Ensure that finished goods inventories are maintained at a level specified by management.

Essential Job Functions
1. Prepare the Production Plan based upon forecast requirements, promotional requirements, and company inventory guidelines.
2. Maintain finished goods inventories at a level specified from forecasts and promotional requirements.
3. Ensure that all Material Requirements Planning (MRP) dates are maintained and updated accordingly.
4. Ensure that desired Material Requirements Planning (MRP) quantities are properly communicated to the Purchasing Department.
5. Develop a schedule that utilizes labor, materials, and machinery in an efficient and cost conscious manner.
6. Ensure that components and services are available in a timely manner required for production.
7. Recommend to the Materials Manager and to the Production Manager to start a manufacturing operation through the issuance of the Daily Production Schedule.
8. Communicate production requirements to Planning & Purchasing Department and Production Department employees to ensure that the required capacities are reserved to meet required production demand.
9. Coordinate with appropriate manufacturing personnel the solution to problems related to the Production Schedule, such as material shortage status, rejection, scrap, re-work, etc.
10. Prepare bulk-manufacturing plan to meet demand requirements.
11. Analyze material shortages, review order progress, and adjust plans and schedules as necessary.
12. Coordinate and communicate all plans, schedules, changes and modifications to appropriate personnel in the Planning & Purchasing and the Production Departments.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Mentally capable of learning Genesis computer program to ensure inventory accuracy, the accurate movement and use of raw materials, and the accurate movement of finished goods.
2. Maintain excellent team-oriented working relationships among all employees.
3. Recommend alternative materials management and planning strategies to management.
4. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines and behaviors.
5. Support and enforce all quality standards, recommend alternative strategies and solutions to management.

Minimum Recruitment Standards
1. BA/BS Degree and/or (5-10) years of related Planning/Scheduling experience.
2. Demonstrated MRP knowledge preferred.
3. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
4. Strong attention to detail is required.
5. Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment is required.
6. Excellent analytical skills and flexibility to changing work schedules are required.
7. Strong computer skills in Windows Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, etc.) are required.
8. Experience with machining centers and assembly required.
