Tranny Is Dead!!!!
Basically my friend had his tranny rebuilt on his 02' Z28 A4 about 5 months ago. He went to this shop in Victorville,CA. The tranny was fine all this time and jus died yesterday. He got warranty on the rebuilt but the warranty expired because he went over the miles that warranty had. The only way we can get the guy to accept the warranty is if we do an odometer swap. He got the tranny rebuilt when he had 110k. I have 111,850k on my 02' Z28 A4. So does anyone know how to do and odometer swap? And also will this work? My friend is trying to save about 2k by doing this. We stay in Los Angeles and Orange County. If anyone can help us out we would gladly appreciate it. Thanks Guys!!!

I'll take a well used GM trans over most of the rebuilt junk out there.
I thought you could jack the rear of the car in the air and put in reverse for a while to turn down the miles?

Sucks that the rebuilt tranny already took a dump. Was he beatin on it pretty bad? Any good reason for it to go south so quickly? I wouldn't trust any shop in Victorville... but that's just me though. Hate that dam town.

On older GM odometers you can manually crank the mileage down if you pull them apart. On the newer stuff (at least 4th gen fbody's) with digital odometer's you have to switch or reprogram the cluster. I think the mileage is actually stored inside the pcm as well, but I think the only time that would ever be checked is if there was a reason to think the mileage was turned back. Even then all you would have to do is change the computer.
