Default ls6 intake = emissions ?

Ive got a 2000 z28 and am about to put on the ls6 intake manifold, and ill also have to cap/remove the AIR system but am concerned about passing emissions in the great state of california has anyone else done this or knows if it will be safe to do ? im thinking it is ,considering the 2001 + cars dont have the AIR but wasnt sure... any help would be greatly appreciated

I honestly think you'd be better off putting your Air system back on just be on the safe side. Then again, it all depends on how much the emissions tech knows about our cars because you could easily tell them that it's an 02 engine you have in there and see what happens. Well let us know what happens...

I also have a 2000 and put on a LS6 manifold a few months ago. I got the egr adapter, cut the hole and kept the egr functional although I did cut the pipe from hanging down in the intake opening. I also had the TB ported. From a visual standpoint the smog tech can't tell a thing and it still blows stock numbers. I don't think the few hp the AIR system takes is worth the hassle of removal and chance not passing smog. May as well do the tb bypass while you're at it too.

You'll probably want to keep the AIR in tact along with the EGR. My car would not pass smog without the EGR through a stock LS1, LT's/cats....

I think the OP confused AIR w/ EGR.

i was gona say, the 2001-2002 came with AIR, but no EGR. if you want to pass smog at a normal place youll need the AIR.

Thunder Racing sells the SLP LS6 intake that already has an EGR provision. This is what I went with when I upgraded to the LS6.
