ok problem with tranny t-5 on my 99
i was heading up the cajon pass the other night going 80-85 then lost 5th gear ! it was like it just started rev...downshifted and cruised in 4th til i got to my exit .
pulled up to 1st light and i was the first car at the light and didnt have 1,2,3 either.....
i only have 4th gear.....got home finally and didnt have reverse....
tearing down the car at the moment and need some help on what it could possibly be?
has anyone heard of this before.....i checked the tranny page here on tech but not any help what so ever....

My m6 would lock up in 3rd and 4th sometimes so I had to get it rebuilt. It was the synchros. Cost me over a grand around here to get it rebuilt. It may be cheaper where you are at and I've heard of people getting there tranny rebuilt for $400-$500. You may have some luck gettign a t5 from a parts car for a good price. I'd do that depending on what you use your car for.

mine are dead as we speak...carbon fiber ones at that....damnit! sounds like syncros aswell..or clutch/hrdros..its hard to say without knowing the car. im just not so sure about syncros when ur saying its 123/5 thats strange..try to shift it without the clutch..match those revs
