That doesn't always mean the optical sensor is bad. Its pretty rare for the optical sensor to generally fail. Was the opti a reman aftermarket unit or a new ac delco part?
You can try going LTCC and clearing codes and you might not get the code again. If you do, then you'll have to swap out your opti. The problem could also be somewhere in your wiring harness.
