Default HELP!!! Car goes straight to REDLINE on Start-Up!!!

Just like the description states, car goes STRAIGHT to redline (as if the throttle body's stuck open) on startup and pings the limiter. Was working perfectly fine this morning. Help plz!

it could be your throttle position sensor? check the tps sensor or disconnect it, also check the throttle body seal and check the seal on the intake air control solinoid too

TPS sensor is the black blockish thing on the left of the throttle body, correct? How would I go about disconnecting it? Where's the intake air control solenoid located? Thanks.

I'm gonna hurt someone. The cap off the intake (not sure what it's called, blocks the EGR hole on top of the LS1 intake) MAGICALLY came off. WTF?!?! It was there this morning and hasn't been driven since. Why is it gone lol?

Is there anywhere I can pick one up locally tonight? If anyone has a spare one I'll give you up to $15 for your time. I can't leave my car at my fiancee's over night since it's a private community that will tow non-resident cars. Closest public parking is 4 blocks away. Thanks!

I just bought a 1 1/4" - 1 3/8" expansion plug from Auto Zone. Hope this works.

I'm starting to worry where the last cap went? Lol - any chance it could've contracted and gotten sucked into the intake? I mean, there isn't really anywhere else it could've gone... worries me.

Yeah, I'd be worried about that as well... Pull your TB and take a look with a flash light and mirrors.

It is there SOMEWHERE (in the intake or in the engine bay)... If you don't find it I wouldn't drive it.

I personally think it is time to put an LS6 intake on to be safe (if you pull the intake and don't see it there you know you are good to go)

I was thinking the same thing. Anyone got one for sale for $300 locally?

time out doesnt that "cap" for the egr look like a football but more rounded? How could that get sucked through the egr hole? Well I am pretty sure you could make one of these and just use lock-tight the next time around with the screws

Not sure what you used but it sounds nothing like what I've seen...

It is unlikely that it (what I am picturing) would fall in BUT if it was the wrong size, had been pushed too far, had loosened up (if it was the type that was an expansion plug) it could fall in.

It obviously didn't happen while he was driving (I think he would have noticed it going to redline) so I really don't see where else it could be besides in the intake

Expansion plug worked. I'm home now. Couldn't see the old block-off anywhere in the intake so I guess I'm in the clear. Took it up to 2.5k in 2nd and punched it to 5500... not a problem at all. Everything seems to be fine. I'm gonna try to expand the expansion plug a bit more with the help of a friend tomorrow to get the best seal I can. Should work as well as anything else, right? Thanks for the help guys. It's appreciated.

I've run an expansion plug on mine for about a year. Not a single issue. Glad you found the problem. Finally got a LS1 vette intake w/o the hole so that'll be going on soon.

I love the trial by fire method to figure out if everything's okay.
