Default Why are AZ track times so slow?

I read all the 10 second club post about guys hitting these awesome times with thier cars. Cool right? I know some of the fellas here in PHX who have the exact same mods or better who are running mid 12's at best. Mine is a really sad # I wont even mention. Whats the deal? Could it be track prep or weather? I'm a little confused about why we cant run the same #'s as these guys elsewhere with the same mods? Its a pattern I've seen from talking to the guys at friday night drags when I see them. Any opinions? Input?

1. Track times are from Firebird on Friday nights
2. Maybe we rarely have ideal density altitude
3. Arizona F-body owners are crappy drivers

I'm not sure that the poor times are consistent to Arizona, maybe just a certain group of cars?

I'm not sure about firebird, but I know that in in tucson at SIR were sitting at 3,075 feet above see level. then add in the shitty track prep, with a DA that will almost always be above 3300 and you get a mid 10 sec car running high 11's.

it don't bother me to bad though, cause it affects all cars in this state. if you run say a 11.5 in tucson . you should be able to run .3-.5 faster in phoenix. just cause you guys are lower then us.

Shitty air and usually shitty track prep equals shitty times.

i'm happy with my results down here in az...couple bolt ons and run 12.5-.6 off the bottle, and 11.7's on the bottle. Cars full weight, i know if i go back home to ny those numbers will change by .3-.4 but an overall happy....to answer your question you have bad air + track elevation over 1000 + prep issues sometimes
