If I add the 176/192 combo to the ls1 what is "necessary" to upgrade on the ls1 first or will it bolt and work?

also, what cam can I use with this combo get max power and keep it cali legal?

You really need to check out these sections:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine-6/

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iv-external-engine-130/

Don't be surprised if you don't find out any info on the "176/192" combo b/c it's actually L76 and L92.

Then, you may need to rephrase your question.

No offense but trying to stay legal in CA while trying to make more power is like pulling on the door that says push (it does't work)

The valves on the L92 heads will not fit in the 3.9" bore you need at least a 4" bore.

Anything much greater than the stock cam I think is going to give your fits if you try to pass smog the regular way.

I made good power with shortys AND cats, AND no UD pulley... If I added some badass heads I'd still be smog legal and make 400+rwhp

People pass all the time with the TR224 cam on 114 lsa but I chose a slightly smaller cam just to be safe. Dynotune is necessary or else you obviously won't pass...

Yeah, typo. Was pretty tired when I wrote it.

Exactly the info I was looking for. Besides the 4" bore (which I knew from reading other posts) the L92 should use the stock rockers and maybe I could put some double springs on to be safe?

As for cam I was thinking the cheatr cam, but i will check out the TR224 as well. Unless its the same thing. I will have to do a little more research.

I may keep the A4 and have it rebuilt to handle more power and get a good stall converter, but a stick is really fun to drive. Ah, decisions decisions!

I think the intake rockers on the L92 are offset. I don't think the stock LS1 rockers would work on the intake side.

Edit

The exhaust rockers (on the left) have no problem with the L92 heads. You can see the offset on the intake (right) rockers.
