Angry New damaged exhaust

So I had to order a new cat back. The 10 year old flowmaster the original owner put on rusted off. Literally. So I've been driving around california with no muffler, getting eye-balled by cops left and right. Finally I was able to order it, and it came in Monday, much to no surprise at all, it was dented.

Do you think it would effect performance if I went ahead and installed it. I really don't want to put damaged pipes on the car, but I don't want to taunt the noobs in blue either. Ordered it from www.marylandspeed.com

Maybe they will get it taken care of quickly.

That's what I was thinking because it would be kinda hard to accidentally dent like that. Anyone have the hooker 3" that can confirm?

part number 16811HKR

lol nah, I can just make it up with the sticker they included in the box!

Was kinda funny too, I cut the heart sticker bottom off where it says "headers" so it only says "I love my hooker". gf didnt think it was too funny though, I attached it to her favorite pair of pants.

Looks like multiple people have it there. I guess so it doesn't smack into anything.

What catback is it? If it's a Hooker, I know mine doesn't have one. That dent doesn't look like it was put there on purpose (by the manufacturer) in my opinion. It may be the angle of your pic, but it looks seriously depressed in the middle. When exhaust is "smashed" for clearance, it's flatter (from what I've seen).

I am pretty sure that is there purposely, for clearance. I have seen other catbacks with that indentation in the same spot. BigDaddyBry's exhaust may be an earlier system.

I would get in touch with them immediately to confirm this.

2005/6 is when I bought it. The link above with the people talking about the indent in their Hooker catback is from 2004. They said earlier to 04 the c/b didn't have it, now it does.

The fact that mine doesn't throws a wrench into the content of that thread, I would consider that thread useless. Plus it doesn't have pics for comparison.

Still, if the center of the "dent" is deeper than the sides, send it back, that's a defect.

There is no need for a "dent" to be deeper in the center to clear the PHR unless the PHR had a nut/bolt protruding on it. It doesn't.
