Default 1999 Z28 Good deal?

I've been stalking the LS1Tech threads for a few days now. I used to have an LT1 camaro when i was 16 and I'm looking at a 1999 Z28 M6. 99K miles black grey leather t-tops bone stock RS ground effects just about all possible options...Few flaws with oxidized paint in a few locations (around Headlights) and the cd player is missing *****. (Not a big deal because i will upgrade the sound system as soon as I can.) The dealer wants $7500 before haggling. What do you guys think would be a deal on the car. This afternoon I think I'll test drive it and take it to my cousin who builds drag motors to make sure there is nothing crazy wrong with the car. But just curious if 7500 is a good deal or what would be a better price. Thanks for your input.

3 1/2 years ago I bought my Z28 M6 for 8k with 85k miles. Its not too bad, but you could probably find ones with less miles for cheaper now. I wish I had found one with less miles...

A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you like it and it all checks out ok, then it's a good deal. I would obviously haggle him down on the price. But if you had $9k to spend, you would be able to find one with some decent mods and lower miles.

Thats not a bad price but you could easily get him down to around 6500 or maybe even closer to 6.

I agree, if you like and the price is acceptable to you buy it. You always find a better deal after you buy a car. In 02 I bought my white auto ws6 with 19k miles at a dealership 3 weeks later they had a black six speed with 3k miles for the same price. At the time I was pissed but I don't have any regrets about buying my car. BTW I recently bought a 98 formula for 4500 with 145k miles.

I havn't had the chance to post it yet in the classified but if your interested I have a very clean pewter '99 a4 Z28 w/ 98k miles and alot of suspenion mods geared toward handling, headers, lid, exhaust, Sony cd player, Chrome 17 x 9 Zr1 rims, and new headlights that I'd sell for the same price picked up. If your interested or want some pics shoot me a pm with your cell# and I'll tell you more about it. This was my fun daily driver but now I'm looking to buy a new house so it's up for sale.

Thanks for the offer Hamr but I've got my heart set on a M6. I made the mistake of buying my 95 Z28 with an automatic and the auto was the main reason i bought a 95 Stang GT Vert because it was a 5-speed. I think this time I'll get it right. I was hoping he would take around 6 to 6500 for the Z. I will be trading my wife's '02 stratus loaded and hopefully no more than about $3K cash out the door.

Sounds good man. I hear ya on the m6. I'm wanting to put a gear vendors in my TA to make it a 8 speed manumatic with the same double overdrive as the m6. Good luck man!

I think $7500 is a little too high for that mileage. I paid $7700 for my 1999 z28 with 91,000 miles with longtubes, slp lid, halo lights, and 4:10s in September of 2008. Not to mention is body and interior were in excellent condition!

The car is pretty good. Some rock chips on the front of hood and front bumper but its rare to see an F-body that doesnt have atleast a few especially one thats 10 years old. The seats were reupholstered so the interior was spectacular minus the radio ***** missing. (seems like a waste to just leave them that way) but like i was saying I'm not sold on it yet but hoping to be out the door for under $6500 but in a perfect world trade my Stratus and 2500 and be living the LS1 life. Anything I should be especially watchful for with this year or number of miles on the Z?

If there was one that only had a few flaws and 99k around me id buy it. It sounds like an ok deal. Alot of people end up getting a better deal or with less miles but sometimes it gets hard to find the m6 in your price range, and in your area. Im looking for one for around that much$, and there is none around here. I just drove almost 300 miles to buy one for 6999, and when i got there it had a soaking wet pass.floor from a leak and the windows didnt roll down. I passed on it cause i didnt feel like working on a car i just bought but im still thinking about it cause theres not much to choose from. So if it runs and drives ok, Id buy it man.

The M6 is kind of a hard to find especially because some many owners are pretty darn proud of their cars. (as well they should be). But half the time to find low miles and and a nice car they think the car is worth 13-15K. I promise not to snake your deal, but where did you happen to find that car, I just moved to Texas a few months ago. I think if a job pans out soon i'll pick up the Z but I don't want to be too frivolous before i have income to support my LS1 lust.

I bought my 2002 Z28 with all options but the ASR, for 5450.......... I say...shop around more....... The government was only giving them 4500 for these and dealers were settling for that during the cash for klunkers, so....I say talk him down for find a better deal, like the ones on here...

On and my Z28 had 81k miles when I bought it.....almost 20k less that that one your looking at...

It is a good deal, but I think you could definitely get it for less! Especially if you go to him with prices for parts that are missing or need replacing. Worst you can do is make an offer and if he says no then move on there's plenty out there just gotta find them!

I promise not to snake your deal, but where did you happen to find that car, I just moved to Texas a few months ago.

I found it on autotrader. It was in new braunfels tx. It was an ok car, seemed to run good and looked pretty good. It did have nice ss wheels with new tires and really great shape leather. Im the kinda guy that prefers to hear the growl of exhaust- but it did have an awesome sounding stereo with the 2 kicker 12s. I just didnt like the idea of the bad leak and them not telling me the windows didnt work when i clearly ask about all that b4 i made the 300 mile drive, so i didnt buy it. Hey if your close go take it for a spin, you wont be snaking my deal. What part of texas are you in? Im in east texas.

i really wish i would of done some research before i bought my car! listen to this... 89k miles, 3rd syncro was out, driver window reg. needed replaced, speedo was WAY off... maybe more too. i didnt know any of this till after i bought it for 10K!!!! i didnt know anyting about cars in general at the time either. i was real lucky to get everything fixed under warranty!

i always wanted a 99+ camaro with t-tops, manual trans, and a v8. i might of paid too much for the car but... im driving my dream car every day!

sometimes paying a little extra is worth getting what you want. buy it!
