Default 1986 IROC-Z- clean

car is an '86 IROC Z 305, t tops, auto.

Car is maroon (pontiac called it flame red metallic- not sure about chevy) with black cloth interior.

Everything works, no paint work needs done-my dad said it is as nice as our 12,000 mile 96 cobra.

Car has 60K on the clock, but looks like a 20K mile car. Car is very impressive- 1 owner.

Price is 7500. I know 3rd gen haters will say it's not worth much more than scrap value- buy price guide says #1 value is 10,500 and #2 is 7500 which is where they got their price.

Thoughts?

A true #2 car needs nothing, and I mean nothing. A #2 car is as near perfect as a #1 car but gets driven versus being a garage queen. It may have minor signs of wear but not needing anything replaced. Do the tires need replacing? How about the brakes? Exhaust? Suspension? Any nicks or chips anywhere? Is the glass nearly perfect? Any obvious wear on the carpets, dash, seats? If the car meets this criteria then by all means it is worth $7500. If it doesn't then you are pricing it incorrectly. It could be a #3 car or what some call a #3+ or #2-. You would need to recalculate the pricing. Can you get 7500? Maybe, but don't expect it. It will take that one certain buyer.

tires are new, no scratches, dents, dings or scratches- this was strictly a weekend car and I am assuming they had to have had the fascia painted at some time.

Glass is all good- suspension is original and it is a 3rd gen so it is going to have a few squeaks and rattles.

true- a #1 car is merely a reference point (and not always an accurate one at that). This is a survivor car that is in amazingly clean condition. wheels look new- no scratches or clear coat peeling or anything like that.

Car was owned by an older guy that was the original owner- took it to shows and cruises and passed recently. We found out about it because we bought his friends 95 Imp SS and they thought we might be interested.

btw- these are not hard questions whatsoever. They are merely observations that you need to make to find out if the car is worth investing in.

I was merely looking for info on what kind of interest Iroc's bring because I usually only deal in Pontiacs.

Then I believe you have it priced accurately. That would be a wonderful car to own for weekend cruising and car shows.

What kills it is that its a 5.0 car and an automatic. If it were a 5.7 auto- or a 5.0 stick, i think you would easily get that 7500. For the collector standpoint- the 60k miles is to high. I think you are more able to find that youll be in the 5-6,000 range for what people will give you. It is a one owner, which is nice- so you might find that one specific buyer who is looking for a one owner, and is willing to overlook the 60k miles- you might strike a deal! goodluck with sale! Oh- and if its the maroon color- thats one of thee best looking colors on irocs! (my opinion)
