Default 2001 Camaro Z28

Buddy wants to sell me his car. its a 2001 SOM Z28 with SS hood and spoiler. its got a really really nice paintjob. The car has cloths seats with a M6. The car has 115k miles. Black ZR1s with 315 in the back. Car has fulll exhaust. Longtubes,ORY and SLP loudmouth. Car possibly has a f-up piston. Runs hard but smokes really bad. Is showing no-compression in one cylinder. He wants 5800. What do you guys think is a good price.

I don't think it's worth that. It's got a few things going for it, (being an '01 and SOM helps quite a bit) but having a bum motor should dock probably 3k from retail. I'd offer him $4000.

I agree. Even $4,000 is pushing it if other things are wrong with the car. How much $$ should be put into a 10 year old car with over 100,000 miles?? Certainly not much. I wouldn't even consider it unless you can figure the true repairs and costs up front from reliable sources. Then you can make an intelligent decision and see if it compares with other nice LS1 cars for sale with strong motors and less miles. Don't be swayed by paint jobs. They disguise a lot!

yeah $4500 is too much. engine would be like $1500 and thats a good deal on an ls1. then you gotta put it in jsut to have a driving car.
