Well, after the car I was working on with the owner fell through, I just happened upon this one and it's a half hour drive away...a rarity here lately for me. I know I'd rather have a Firebird over a Camaro when the day is over. It's at the extreme outer edge of what I wanted to pay....

Looks nice! Nice neighborhood too. He has the perfect asking price on it. His 'obo' means he will take $15,000 - $16,000 which is very fair to pay if the Carfax checks out OK.
Maybe this is the one.

Man, I hate to say it, but I think that the asking price is a little ambitious, given the vintage of the car. Most 2002 WS6s and SS Camaros with similar mileage that I've seen go for between $11,500 - $13,500 in a private sale, if the seller is lucky. Often, I've seen many these cars sell privately for between $9,000 - $11,000.

Remember, we're talking about a 10-year-old car, and 25,000 miles -- while low -- proves that the car has seen some road time.

I realize that some people will disagree with these numbers and call me crazy, and that's cool. I'm just giving you my honest opinion based on my research because I don't want you to pay more than you should.

Take this post for what you think it's worth and good luck with your decision!

I'm not going to let your inaccurate post go unchallenged.
Your post is worth NOTHING!
You have often seen many 25,000 miles 2002 WS6 cars sell for between $9,000 - $11,000???
C'mon, help the OP out, don't mislead him. That is just a ridiculous statement and way off base. I don't even know where to start to tell you how wrong this is. Are you talking about 25,000 miles cars?? Are you talking 2002 WS6 models?? That is what the OP is asking about. Nothing else, not 80,000 miles cars, not 2000 models. It matters. Look at this link. This is TRADE IN VALUE and you are seeing 'private party' 2002 WS6 sales for thousands less with this low mileage??

Autocheck shows it as a 0 accident, 4 owner, clean titled car. The 02 Ws6's with such low mileage and stock condition really hold their value. I would offer him 15 or 16 or whatever your comfortable spending. Definitely looks like a real nice car.

OP .... although NC01TA and I have disagreed a time or two in the past, he is on track with his post. If it is a clean as it looks, somewhere between "clean trade-in" and "clean retail" ($14,000-$16,500) would be a fair deal for both buyer and seller. Obviously, the closer to $14,000, the better the deal for you. Consider starting at $14,000 and meeting in the middle at $15,500.

By the way, don't only rely on the CarFax report ... be certain there is no body work or re-spray. If you don't have the eye to inspect for body work or re-spray evidence, bring someone with you who does.
