Default 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 value?

A friend of mine has a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500. Car is a solid 7 on a scale of 1-10. Its a 390 automatic. New paint, factory chrome wheels. Only interior flaws are 2 small cracks in the dash pad, a small screwdriver hole in the seat. I know without pictures it'd be hard to value and I will get some but what would you say the ball park value of it should be. He was asking 10k but was beginning to think it was to cheap.

$10,000 may be right, or be a little on the low side, but it depends on if the 390 is the 270HP edition or the 320HP edition. Do you know? With the car being a 7 of 10 it certainly must be considered a #3 car at this point with the description you have given. A solid #2 car with no tears or dash issues could bring a price in the $15,000 area for the 270HP engine. $17,000 would not be out of line for the 320HP engine, but again these prices are for a #2 car. If the seller has #3 car then that $10,000 could be about right for a 270HP engine. Please post again with photos and more details for accurate pricing. What I have offered is rather 'general' pricing as you asked about. A quality re-paint and decent factory chrome wheels would seem out of place on a #3 car so make sure you get details on the paint job at the very least. You have to make sure the paint wasn't a 'sell me' $900 job covering all types of problems. Lord knows I saw enough of those at a recent auction I attended. It was 'rip-off' city for the uninformed. What was under that glossy paint job??

Just curious if you learned anything else or if you have any interest anymore. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the car is a 270hp engine. It has a 2 barrel on it. Engine is a little dirty (not been there for 45 years dirty but you can tell its been in the car a while). The paint job is great just small things like chrome pieces have minor imperfections when up close. From 10 feet the car looks almost new. The wheels are Magnum 500s. They also look brand new (may even be). I haven't had a chance to take any pictures of the car and I'm on vacation for the week. I'll see if my friend can take pictures and email them to me.

Hard to tell by the photos but $10,000 is starting to sound OK as long as the paint isn't covering bondo or rust. A careful inspection will still be needed. Any chance of getting a Marti report to verify everything? They are available for 1967 Fords and start at about $17.
If you are going to try and purchase it, best of luck! Sweet looking machine! I always liked the Ford 390 in any configuration.

** Apologies to the moderators if we are not supposed to talk so much about a Ford product here on LS1Tech.

No I'm not thinking of purchasing it. I was just trying to get him an idea on what to ask for the car. But from being around it if I were into Fairlanes I wouldn't see any problem giving 10k for it. I honestly thought he should ask more in the range of 12k and working from there. Thanks for the help though. I'll let him know.

Coincidence?? I entered a car show yesterday and look what I found? A '67 GT with a 427. Talk about an amazing car! I talked to the owner about values and he agreed with my assessment. Although his car is well north of $30k, he was very aware of Fairlane 500 prices as well.
He won a 'top 20' award out of over 150 cars. No surprise there. My SS didn't win, probably a little too 'new'. Enjoy the photos.
