Is it worth $12,500? 2001 Camaro SS
Whats up guys,
I am very interested in this beautiful 2001 Camaro SS with 72k, I have yet to call SLP to verify whether its a real Camaro SS or not. Dealer is asking $12,500 is that in a reasonable price or is it a little over price ? I just ran a KBB price check suggested value $11,200. Check out car ad on craigslist let me know your opinion..

A little overpriced in my opinion. Obviously a dealer is in business to make as much money as possible. I would say $11,000 would be a decent starting point, I don't think it should go higher than $11,500 really.

Agreed, a little pricey without leather. Rear bumper looks to be a tad out of alignment. I'd say $10,500 at most. Passenger hood line is out a little too. Many SS's had slight hood alignment issues.

I agree...if the mileage were a bit lower I would say that $12500 might be reasonable. Looks like a great base for a good project (same boat I was in a few years ago.) Just to give you an example of how aggressively these dealers price cars, I recently inquired about a 99 Vette vert that a dealer wanted 18500 for. I asked them for the bottom dollar price and they came back with 15800. I know its a different situation/dealer, etc, but my point is that you can get that talked down to at least $11500. Money talks.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else on the price, but it does look like its in excellent shape and all stock so thats a plus! Look on the driver's door at the option codes it should list WU8, that's the code for the SS option. It may have an "Additional Content" sticker from SLP there also. The real question is what's it worth to you?? Good Luck with your search!!

Thanks for looking out.
It's a real 2001 Camaro SS build#5630, also ran a carfax miles check out 72,5** in 2006 it was involved in a rear end collision so thats why bumper is a tad off unaligned. I'm going in Saturday I'm going to make bumper, hood & interior a factor. I'm thinking of offering dealer 10k before financing if they don't accept offer I'll increase to $10,5, and thats really were I'm stopping. what do you guys think?

If you do decide to go look at it make sure the passenger front of that hood hasn't been repaired before, I know it looks off but also appears thicker as well above the headlight. Obviously hard to tell from the picture.
Also the rear bumper could be sagging on the passenger side due to one of the mounting bolts being broken from the bumper itself, I have seen this multiple times and can be easily fixed.
If you suspect rear damage be sure to crawl under the rear and check it out or request a day test drive so you can check it out thoroughly.
Good luck and that is a beautiful car!

It certainly looks clean but it is way overpriced for the miles, being an A4, having 5 listed owners, and having an accident on the title. There are way better deals to be had for that kind of money if you willing to be patient and look around. Just a quick example: near me, there is currently a 2000 SS 6 speed with 22k and all SLP options for $14,000. I bought my 2000 T/A Firehawk 6 speed with 83k for $10,000 and that included having it shipped across the country.
