1998 BPM Trans Am
I want to know how much this would be worth, just in-case I have to sell it.
This is an original 1998 Bright Purple Metallic Trans Am. The engine is completely stock besides the long tube headers, 3" pipe to a Borla Exhaust. Mileage is 93k miles and has the normal dash pad crack, driver seat torn, some areas where paint was chipped and the previous owner put primer over it. The engine/transmission have no issues and they are strong.
How much as is? and How much when I fix it up?

Could use a little more info. You didn't even state if it was an automatic or manual tranny. History of the car? Are you just the 2nd owner or have there been many? Carfax clean?
I'll throw some numbers at you because you probably just want a general idea. 'As is' this 16 year old car with nearly 100k miles on it would be considered in fair condition and fetch about $5,500 - $6,000. Buyers would look at the price guides and probably see prices in this range as well. Not many would pay more than that.
If the car was put into the good condition category, well maintained with records, etc... perhaps you could squeeze $6,500 out of it, maybe even $7,000 to a special buyer that loves the color, and if the Trans Am doesn't need things, like tires, repairs, etc...
The more negatives you remove the higher the price you can get. Unfortunately, repairing the negatives costs money, perhaps even more than what you can get in the long run. If you have to put $1,000 into a $5,500 car there is no guarantee you can get the $6,500, and then that would be a bad move. You really have to assess your Trans Am properly so you don't make that error.
If you plan on keeping the car that is a totally different story. You want it to be nice for yourself. Just like owners do with mods. It's for them, not for a future sale.

thank you, yeah sorry for not putting the other info..
it's automatic, the car has had 2 owners (i haven't registered because I recently got diagnosed with a heart issue and im trying to clear up money elsewhere to keep it but seems like i'm going to have to sell it.) It's a clean texas title also. It was owned by the 2nd owner since 2005 by an older gentleman who didn't drive it very much.
I purchased it for my wife since I have a 99 TA. She loves it and all but since this came up I'm gonna have to sell it since I know it will sell faster then my 1979 corvette that I have listed here and plenty of other sites.
Thanks for your response and help!

avoctane, sorry to hear about the health situation. Sounds like a non-abused ride which is a real strong selling point for older Trans Ams since most are modded and driven hard. I think it will appeal to someone, especially someone that knows a good paint guy that can 'match' up the paint half decent and blend it.
If I owned your car I think I would sell 'as is' with an asking price of $6,000. Allow for those negotiations and take whatever you feel comfortable with in the $5,000+ area. Writing up the ad will be key, stressing the 2nd owner aspect and no abuse, if accurate. Your T/A will be a fine candidate for someone looking for a daily driver or for someone looking to mod.
GLWS on this T/A and your '79 Corvette (I love that body style).

again thanks everyone for the input, and NC01TA, yeah the car is pretty we'll maintained.. I put seafoam to clean the engine and gas tank and normally you see lots and lots of smoke since the engines are not clean.. we'll this one literally had 20 seconds at most of light grey smoke and it then cleared up. So the engine was pretty darn clean! The car drives smooth, no vibrations or anything of the sort. Today I have someone coming to check out my 79 vette so hopefully that one goes before I have to get rid of this.. Damn surgery is gonna cost lots so I got to get prepared for the hospital bills & get me some insurance cause I know I can't afford it.. Thanks again!

Also a good polish and wax by a professional, interior cleaning and a nice wet looking tire dressing, clear clean windows can go a long way when selling

I saw that T/A for sale, get the paint touched up and you are set! Love the purple color, there are less and less out there in decent shape. Too bad it's an auto, but someone may just want that if you sell it.
