2002 z28 6mt
So I have been looking for my next Camaro and found one I am interested in... I did my normal due diligence which is checking KBB, Craigslist, and LS1tech then comparing prices.
The car I'm interested in appears to be a clean 02' Z28 Arctic White/Ebony 6MT T-Top with approx. 110k miles listed for $8,500. KBB ranges it between $5,352 and $6,238, and LS1tech has at least two listings for clean LS1 cars with approximately 50k less miles also at the $8,500 price.
I would love some feedback, because this car seems way overpriced. I would like to pick it up but don't even know how to approach the seller.

Finding truly "clean" 6 speed cars without issues in the 60K-120K mile range is not easy. Many have issues. Many are not clean. Many owners are hiding something. If you can find a 60K mile clean 6 speed for $8500 that's pretty fair. When factoring in KBB pricing know that they give no premium for a 6 speed. So add $700-$1,000 to their listed values...assuming the 6 speed is solid.
All you can do is check out the car in question and make an offer. KBB and NADA aren't usually too far off for cars with over 100K miles. You have to expect to pay a premium for a 1-2 owner cream puff (even at 110k miles) where the service/maintenance history is documented, it's mostly all stock, and cosmetically looks like half its mileage.

I just did a search on Autotrader for all 1998-2002 Camaro/Firebird 6 speeds with under 75K miles and under $12,000. There are 10 listed nationwide. None under $9750. For $8000-$8500 I'd sort of expect a 6 speed car with 90K miles and probably a few modifications. The first car listed is a 2002 NBM SS convertible 6 speed with CME and blackwing air lid. With 59K miles at $9750 that's an excellent price. It shouldn't last long. The head lights are yellowed. Other than that seems pretty clean. I recall 4 years ago a 2-owner, 2000 SS vert A4 in my area was listed at $9K/74K miles and had trouble finding a buyer. It drove lousy too with a pull to the right and a whine in the rear end. That one also had the cold startup up slap.

It's an asking price. OFFER OFFER OFFER. All he can say is, 'no'. Offer $6,000 or $6,500 (cash in hand) if you like the car, then meet him somewhere in the middle where it is acceptable to the both of you. Works this way every hour of the week every week of the year. Some owners are jerks and won't even negotiate. I understand their viewpoint on a rare ultra low mileage example but not on a 'used' car. Just move on if that happens. Check the Carfax and best of luck!!
