$11K is not that strong a price. After all fees the seller was lucky if they got $10,000. I guess one plus for auction is if the car has a mechanical problem, there's no way the bidders can know that ahead of time since the car cannot be driven.

I don't know if they do it or not but some auctions have a stipulation that the seller must disclose known problems and if the buyer has a problem right away they have some recourse.

^^^ Yes, you must disclose issues. Attorneys that specialize in auction fraud are advertised all over the place now. Sellers would be dumb nowadays to try something, although I'm sure there are always a few.
I agree that the seller didn't do well on this one. On the other hand, the buyer picked up a sweet ride most likely, especially with those new BFG tires. Auction cars with no histories are always a gamble. At least a Carfax probably helped the buyer on this one. If this Camaro was a one or two owner car with those miles, a real good buy. Years and years of life left on this one.

I guess that price seems about right to me. It's a nice car for sure, but it's not ultra low mileage, not an SS, and convertibles don't have a huge following with the 4th gen crowd. It's a popular color and the most desirable year and trans type, has a couple mods that are generally desirable as well. I wouldn't have expected it to sell for much more. That's about what I would consider my '98 to be worth with 70% less mileage and 4 years older with an auto/t-tops.

I think many of the V8 sports/muscle cars will come down due to the shift in demographics. The older people that owned them will no longer be able to drive them and then the younger folks want something new to drive them around.

I agree it seems like a decent amount of car for $11K. I can't find anything like that up around my way. The last time someone had a decent SS vert in my area (44K miles and an A4) they wanted $17K (after starting at $20K) and wouldn't even tender counter offers as they "knew what they had." 2 yrs later and they still own it.

I always find myself laughing when I read these sorts of comments in an ad; those same cars are usually overpriced by at least 30% and, as you said, they stay for sale for years. Several cars in my area are currently suffering from this sort of condition (one is a 2nd gen Firebird that's been for sale for about 5 years now.) But, since these guys "know what they have", I guess they're already aware of the bloated, unrealistic price and the fact the car will remain for sale forever.

I think some people just feel good about having their car listed, they don't really care if it sells or perhaps don't even want to sell it. Something about the excitement of "what if?" must give them some joy, sort of like buying a lotto ticket I guess. In their minds, as long as the listing is up then perhaps their fantasy can become reality.

I would say that is a fair price for a Z28.
