Default What my 2009 LS3 Short Block worth?

Hi guys,

Have a question.

Back in 2011, I bought a LS3 short block out of a 2009 Vette with only 2,400 miles on it. I was lucky enough to actually see it in the car before it was removed. The owner was going with a supercharged 427.

I installed it in my car, a 2001 Camaro SS M6, using the Lingenfelter converter box, added some TEA ported LS3 heads, a TSP cam, LS3 Intake, melling oil pump, etc.... The engine has never seen nitrous or boost.

I bought a Huron Speed T4 AC Turbo kit in the recent group purchase and will be installing that later this year.

I'm contemplating 2 choices:

1 - Rebuild my current short block for boost.

2 - Buy a new GM LS3 block and build a new short block from the ground up and sell my current short block.

I only put about 4,000 miles on my LS3 short block since I installed it in my car, (my car only has 19,xxx miles on it, yes only 19K)

My car is never driven in rain or snow so the short block still looks new.

With about 6,500 miles on the short block, what is a good running, low mileage LS3 short block worth these days?

Back from the dead....

I thought I may have had a buyer but they changed their mind.

I'm still considering selling my short block or rebuilding it into a forged short block. In a way I'd like to sell this one and give someone else the chance to go LS3 since there is nothing wrong with it. Some people just say run it the way it is with boost but I like to over build things to last for a long time. 12 lbs of boost won't last forever on a stock LS3 short block.

My car has just over 20,100 miles on it now, so total miles on the LS3 short block is less than 7,000 miles.

I was thinking of selling it as a "complete" LS3 short block that will include the following:

- 231 238 113 lsa Cam
- Timing set
- Lifters
- Front and rear covers
- Melling 10295 Oil pump
- SLP Underdrive Harmonic Balancer
- LS3 Valley cover
- 58x Crank Sensor
- Lingenfelter 58-24x converter box

Basically I would pull my top end, oil pan, pick up tube, windage tray and sell the rest.

For someone wanting to drop this into their car, not much to build a complete engine. If your close to me, I could even do the install for you for a decent price along with a tuning.

Engine is still in the car, I'm not taking it out just yet. Engine oil has been changed 5 times in the last 6 years of it being in the car. I only use Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Oil filters.

I have a few prices in mind for either bare LS3 short block or "complete" LS3 short block.

What do you guys think for price?
