Default Nitto DRs in the rain??

Im thinking (key word: thinking) about buyin a set of rims and they have nitto 315 DRs on the back and I daily drive my car A LOT in the rain and all. I was wondering how do these tires handle in the rain. I have sumotumos right now and i swear to god those are the worst tires ever in the rain. I have to hold on for dear life when i hit a puddle bc it choses where it wants to go.. so i was wondering how the nittos are in the rain?? i dont it to be worse. i know MTs were be impossible to DD but i hear nittos arent as bad

help is appreciated! thanks

I never had trouble with Nittos in the rain....I drove full slicks in the rain.. You just have to be careful and not act a fool.

I had Nittos in the rain, and they worked just fine. Then again mine were on a 15" rim with alot more sidewall. I would go for it.

My 315 Nittos got me home in the rain a few times.

Not bad at all, way better than BFG DR was.

Just don't do anything stupid.

I recently drove home from work with ET Drags slicks on the back... Very carefully, it's not a big deal at all.

Are they "good" in the rain, no. But they are the best DR for sure....

i drove mine all day everyday (april to november--have snowtires for winter) rain or shine, highway going 70+ in pouring rain and never had an issue. There was no fear what so ever if i got cought in the rain, i will tell you this if i knew i was going to have to do an extended highway drive (more than an hr or over 75 mi) i would make sure to jack up the air pressure (40psi or so) to avoid the mushy fealing of the tires. I say get them and then go somewhere that you can jerkaround with the car in the rain to see how it reacts..

ive been daily driving the nitto 555Rs for almost 2 years. City driving is fine, just dont drive an idiot and you will be fine. I rarely drive in the rain on the highway but never go over 55 if im stuck in it.

Don't try and push it, don't try and 'have fun' unless you got an EMPTY parking lot to play with, and use good judgment. Baby the crap out of em in the rain and you'll be fine.

315/35/17's nitto 555R

Never had any problems, had them on the DD for over 2 years now. Just gotta remember the *** is easy to get out, so dont romp on it and expect her to stick. I actually did some testing when i first got them, making sure i could brake and everything... no difference in feel from the kumos i had previously. And could actually accelerate straight pretty well. I drive the same with them as i did, but i always leave plenty of room when its wet out.

As long as you have more than 50% tread life, they do fine. It's when they're worn that people have problems.

I don't know if I'd want to chance it. I had low tread on my rear tires on my vette and just cruising along on the highway at 65mph or so the car suddenly hydroplaned and did 2 or 3 full 360's in the middle of traffic on the highway before coming to rest inches from smashing into a barrier wall. Not something I want to try to do again. The thing was it was on cruise control, no lane changes nothing just hit a few of those rougher section dividers over a bridge and it sent the car spinning.

they have about 15 passes at the track on them.. do think they are pretty worn out after that and how much longer you think they would last?
