Default Nitto DR or Extreme Please help!

I need a little help, I've searched and read tons of posts about tires. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Nittos but should I get the 555drs or the 555extreme performace. I only drive my car maybe 6k a year since I have a work car and a pickup. I go to the track maybe 2 times a year and would like a tire that will hook. I drive the car back and forth about 100 miles to the beach over the summer and don't want to wear through tires because of it. I do some street racing and am basically lookin for a tire that will get me off the line and won't wear out in 10k. Thanks

Also, who sells Nittos the cheapest?

The NT555 is just a plain radial. The NT555R is the Drag Radial. I have seen people get 15K out of the Drag Radial and it will stick decent. I would just go with those if I were you, they are a good compromise between a street tire and sticky drag radial.

Nitto RII Extreme-sticky compound on a stiff carcass for autocross and roadracing.I've been running the 275-40/17s for a couple of years with excellent wear and handling on the street and they handled rain very well.
Nitto Extreme Drag Radials-sticky compound on a not too stiff carcass.I'm running the 315-35/17s,handling and wear suprisingly good, even in the rain.Took a trip from Cleveland,Ohio to Daytona,Florida for the 1st Annual Dream Cruise and back running them, didn't see any appreciable wear so I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

The Nitto DR's are a great tire. I have some 275/40/17's on my 17x9's and have been very surprised by the longevity of them, and how well they've hooked also. It convinced me to order a set of them in a 315/35/17, that will be going on the car whenever the snow melts. I've got 8-9k on the 275's right now, and they've probably still got another 4-5k left in them. Couldn't be happier with a DR.

That's where I bought my 315's. Well, it was through their store, on eBay. I got the pair for $340 shipped to my door. Best price I could find on the net.

I paid 138 a piece for my 315's. The 275's are cheaper. But that was at dealer cost and I didn't have to pay for shipping.

Wow man, 3300 and 4300 is pretty weak. I had 7600 on a set of 245/50's before I sold them to a guy. He didn't race at all and put probably 15000 more miles on them before he sold them.

I'm waiting to see the new NT05's. There coming out in February and are suppose to be in between the 555 DR's and the invo's? The Nitto web site has the tire wear rated at 200...so should be pretty sticky, with good street manners?

I drive 30k miles a year and ran Nitto drag radials (snow tires in winter, of course) rain or shine. I got about 25k out of mine, no burnouts or track visits. If you do big burnouts at the track you might only get a few thousand out of them. Regardless, they are great all around and safe in the rain on a daily driver, something that can't be said for the BFG or MT drag radials, in my opinion. A note on handling: with the sticky tires in the rear and standard tires up front, the car definitely understeers worse than stock. I think next time I might go with DR's in the rear and NT555RII's up front.

adidazman15, we carry Nitto and offer the lowest delivered price guaranteed. If you can find a competitor who has a cheaper delivered price, let me know and I'll beat it. Here's a link with our current prices.
If you decide on the 555R Drag Radials, I would suggest haveing them heat cycled. Heat cycling bonds the molecules in the rubber extending the life of the tire. We provide this service for only $15.00 per tire.
