What would look the best for my car? (pics included)
I have a black 2002 z28 RS that is in need of some new tires so I figure I might as well change the rims too. I will be ordering some Factory Reproductions Z06 rims, 18x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 rears from Tomz wheels for $665 shipped. I asked the lady about tires and she said she recommends Nitto NT555 285/35's for the rears and 275/35 for the fronts for $845 shipped. Its a little steep IMO but whatever, I cant find them cheaper anywhere else.
The question I have is, how well will these wheels/tires fill out my wheel bay? Right now I have some cheesy looking stock rims and tires that do not fill out the car very well.
Back left wheel
Look at how much the body hangs over the wheel
Better angle
Front wheel
The whole side of the car
What I want is the rim to fill out the car nicely, and I think 18's fill out the wheel bay the best for rim diameter. I am unsure of how thick the sidewall of the tire should be so it will look filled out without having to lower the car just yet. Also I hate how much the body hangs over the whole wheel, I think it makes the car look really weak. What kind of tire sizes should I be looking at to get a really nice full look? Something like this..

How does that camaro at the bottom of my first post pull off the look though? In his specs he said his suspension was completely stock, and he has Z06 18x9.5's in the front and 18x10.5's in the back.

the 18" wheels on his car are 2.5" wider than the stock snowflakes are, so it sticks out a bit farther, taking away that "overhang" that you showed pics of in your first pic.
however, you can also accomplish the same thing with wheels that have a different offset, even if they're the same width. a negative offset pushes the outer edge of the wheels further out toward the outside of the car, and a positive offset moves the outer edge further in toward the body of the car. obviously, there are limits to how much offset you can get away with before you need to start mini-tubbing the car, but there is a decent amount of offset adjustability that you can do. see this thread for the limits for different wheels/offsets. you can also see how my 17" x 9.5" x +41mm offset wheels accomplish the same thing in this thread

sounds like you already have your answer. he said that he has 18 x 10.5 wheels in the back. those stock "snowflake" wheels are 16 x 8.

What I really liked from that picture on the bottom of my first post was how there isn't a huge gap from the top of the tire to the fender. I know a lot of the guys here lower there car to reduce the gap, but he claims to have a stock suspension. I'm not sure if he has 35's or 40's but it looks very full. What do you think he has?

Here are some pics of mine! Get the widest tire possible for you 10.5 inch rear wheels! I would go at least 305/35 in the rear. My car has 17x11 rear wheels with 315/35 tires!

Well I know my overhang is pretty bad because of the much smaller stock wheel. But I have seen some z28's with the same 18x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 backs, but it still has that overhang, so I'm assuming that the tires are much wider too.

my +41mm is as far as i would go, since i've already had to bend in the inner portion of the rear fender wells a bit to clear the tires...but i'm also lowered on Strano springs. if you're stock height and don't intend to lower it at all, you could probably get away with a bit more, like maybe a +38 or so.
