Default Some Advice Needed on New Rims (Pics inside)

Okay. So my dad and I are trying to figure out which rim to go with on the Trans Am. He was always about the chrome but starting to lean towards the black with the chrome or polished lip. I would like to get a thread together to show him and help us decide. Also I need to know what size rim I can go with, without having to do any pounding on the fender. Or maybe just a little. Like how wide can I go on what size rim? (search was down... )

Okay on to the pics and our choices.

Ruff Racing 278's Chrome (my choice of the 278's) 18X8.5 and 18X9.5

Ruff Racing 278's Black and Polish (his choice of the 278's) 18X8.5 and 18X9.5

Deep Dish Z06 I like these do to the deep dish style, however the backs are 19X10 I'm worried about this fitting or traction issues with a 19.

HP Racing Evo they are only 18X8 and I would like to go wider if possible.

He said he kinda liked the HP Evos after I showed him this picture. I was actually showing him the pic because I was trying to explain to him the blacked out side markers. Anyhow he saw the rims and said he liked them.

Alright if you guys can help us out with more pictures to get an idea on what we like and what looks good it would be appreciated. Also the car is black so if you have black cars with these rims it would be nice.

Thanks.

They keep growing on me. I guess I should get a pic up of my car as it is now. The car now has tint and clear or Nite Shade markers. I haven't decided which I like better...

I like the Evo's but if you are going to be worried about traction with the 8" I would go with at least a 9-9.5 rear. Hence the 278's, which would look good too.

lol nice yeah the tires arent the best in the rain but whose carvin roads when its pouring? lol but yeah when its dry out the kd's are nuts my girlfirends uncle has a 2004 porsche 911 twin turbo has over 630 horse and he said hes gonna get the kd's next over his current set of pilot sports! lol and this guy track races his car alot so thats tellin you somthing the dry grip is insane and the side wall is reallllllly firm. but as for wheels? honestly its up to your taste and what kinda look you want your car to portray, the sweet street beast? go anything chrome and deep dish.. for the track/autocross race rig go with alotta spokes bbs style like the Hp's or for function????? go with the lightest weight... thats what i think but im not you lol good luck tho!

Ya I don't drive the car in the rain so I'm not worried about wet traction and I like my pilot sports now but would like to try some other stuff out there to get a feel for the market.

Also does anyone know what the largest width rim I can go on a stock height car.

Any pics with these rims on the car would be appreciated.

If you go with the ruffs the bolt pattern of 120.oo which is not exactly what is called for ? 120.65 is what is proper, the ruff 120.00 will slide on over the wheels studs but all the pressure(torque) is on the outer area of the studs therefore not centred as a proper fit i alsowas looking into the same ruff wheel as you currently are & this is what changed my mind.
There is a section under wheels & tires that has the heading " best lookin chrome wheels for a trans am"" this will help you out tremendously!!! Do some more seacrching & be sure you get the correct offset wheel for the front & rear of your car !!very important & then the proper fitting tire
go 18" all 4 coreners with a 9--0.5 up front with an offset in the 38--56mm. Use a 275/35 /18
on the rear go 10--11" with an offset of 44-54mm. Use a 295/35/18
the lower the offset the more the wheel/tire go outwards towards the fender lip & the higher the offset the more the wheel/tire move inwards towards the inner fender,
but if you want to do a wheel /tire rotation you will have to stick with a 18x9--9.5" wheel on all 4 corners with a 275/35/18 with a 38--56 mm offset.
My 2002 trans am has the factory 17x9" speedline wheels & the offset on them is 50mm.
Any more questions--pm me !
