Lost traction by going to 315/35?
I went from firestone 275/40/17s to 315/35/17s sumotomas for looks and I got the whole set for 300 I know the sumotomas are not the best tires but for my car I dont race much they made sense because of cost I was wondering which will be better for the dragstrip the sumos have a wider footprint but will that make them hook better at the strip? Or will I lose traction because I went to a cheaper tire?

I had them on my 400 RWHP 6 speed car and they def. were not like the 315 nitto drags I replaced them with but were not all that bad either. I mean look what u pay for them. To me that is what I expected. Granted I did have a ton of suspension work already done to the car, but did have a 4.10 gear and they hooked coming out of 2nd, never had an issue in 3rd gear spinning like some people have.

Sumitomo's are garbage, I've got 315/35 Sumi's on the back of my car and lost a bunch of traction when I swapped my 17x9's for a 17x9.5/17x11 ZR1 combo.
I've got a set of BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD's that I'm going to get mounted one of these days, hopefully I don't blow the ten bolt.
