Widest tire?

I'm wanting to put a 100 shot on my car and it has traction issues right now in first so I'm looking for some wider tires. Problem is I only have 8 in wide rims. What would you suggest?

255-50-16 Drag radials. I've heard of guys cutting 1.6 60 fts with the Mickey Thompsons. I have BF Goodrichs with only 2 track passes on them that I'd like to sell. Where are you located?
