Default Witch 28" DRs for stock 16" rims: 295/50/16 or 275/55/16

I got another set of stock z28 rims(16x8) for the street, What my car came with. There ok not my #1 choice wheel, bot not bad looking. Little heavy # 20.950 eash with the centercaps.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11...n/IMG_2884.jpg

And looking to run a larger DR (27.5"- 28"). My drag only wheel setup is, gregweld/prostars are the 28x10.5 stiff ETdrags, and work great. But looking to run the DR most of the time this summer, weekends, but not on long trips ect. But still hook ok at the track, and street. I know with the m6 there not going to dead hook off the limiter like my ETdrags.

Looks like there 2 close DR sizes
http://store.summitracing.com/compar...1&autoview=sku

Mickey Thompson 3794R
295/50-16 Or about 27.69x10x16
Minimum Recommended Rim Width (in): 8.00 in.

So they should be fine on stock 16x8s. But I'm turned off by how heavy they are listed at 33# a tire
Next is the:

M&H DR ROD08
275/55-16 or about 28.0x9x16
Minimum Recommended Rim Width (in): 9.00 in.
But I've seen them on stock snowflakes and they fit fine, the sidewall width is alot less the the MT sized safe for a 8inch rim. I'm gona call to find out there weights. But that seam to be in stock easily, the MT last I checked a few weeks ago were on there way

The both cost about the same price. Anyone running either DR on stock wheels? The MT sounds like a big *** tire, but alot of auto guys get some GREAT short times on them. But I havn't see that size yet. Not heard anything on the M&H? looking for any feedback, the search wasnt finding anything.
thanks

I have the M&H 275 55 R16s on stock 5 spokes and they work very well...I use them on my street set up...They tend to run narrow, but are seemingly much lighter than my 275 60 R15 M/T Radials that also use...They ride nice and hook well on the street...I like them...

I never weighed them, but they are definitely lighter than the M/Ts...They wear very well....I havent had them long enough to compare them vs. M/T but the initial wear is encouraging...They do run a bit narrow in size...but they work well on the street...I havent tested them at the track...I may do so at a future track rental...

Got a relpy back, the M&H are 27#'s a tire. MT are 33# a tire, and the shipping date is now 5/5 from summit.

I got a set of the MT, havnt mounted them yet. There a lot heavier then the M&H ones for sure, and look wider. My M&H are bald now but still getting 1.59s I backed up this year on them. Off the street on the close setup will go 1.65 -1.620s that I think is really good for a m6 car stock rim tire.

I'll keep with updated when I get the MT on, and post pics of them installed with sizes and all that.

No it will not work because of the taller tire and if you have asr that too will not work unless you get a tune for it. its easy to tune.

I did a 1.59 last year with my mt 28's on the snow flakes.

i know this is a little bit older thread, but does anyone know about how long those m&h tires last compared to a hoosier or mt on the street? i'm looking for a street tire for a car that sees about 2000 miles a year.

The M&H will last with that for sure, usless you do burnouts all the time. Think I got about 5K from them, One summer and a few months of the next year. They last longer then MT I ran too, not sure of the hoosier but dont think they would get more street miles.
