Default Front Stud length with welds...

..I just got weld skinnies for the front of the car. I will be running a spacer so I don't have to grind the calipers. How many people still run the stock studs? If not, does any1 know where I can get 2.5 inch studs at a local autoparts store?

just order the 3.25 arp studs from summit. not many local stores would have that. i tried the stock studs and it just didnt feel safe imo. the wheels stayed on but i was always checking them.

I just went out in the garage and bolted them on with the stock spacers. It seemed like they grabbed enough of the stud to be "safe". I'll order some studs eventually, until then, I'll make a few passes down the track.

if the stud doesnt pass into the head of the lug nut the same distance as the diameter or the stud then its not "safe" and isnt providing the correct clamping force.

How big of spacer do you use to clear the caliper?

I'm using a 5/16" spacer. I will upgrade the studs soon, but like I said, I might take a trip down the strip with them if I can't get them in time for next weekend.

I've made a few passes with the stock studs and as ls2bait said it isn't safe and I worry everytime I make a pass. I'm about to order my studs for the front this week. They're expensive, but a small price for safety. What really started worrying me is when I saw on video where my left wheel is lifting off the ground on launch. Last thing I want is a nose dive on the track.

I just received my 2.5 inch ARP studs. They'll be on the car before I make a pass.
