Uh... Better for what? One is a drag tire and one is an extreme performance summer tire.

You're comparing apples to oranges. What are you looking for? Are you looking for a street tire or a drag tire?

Tread life isn't going to be "decent" its going to be poor with either. Compared to other similar radials, they are better in terms of tread-wear. If you want to go fast in a straight line and you don't care about rain get the 555Rs. For a "street tire" they sure will grip though.

I'm about to spring for the NT-05's. Since the car isn't a daily and will probably dry rot before I run through the tread, Im not too worried about it.

People confuse these both for Drag radials and the NT05 is no drag radial. That being said, My bro put a set of NT05's on his Bolt on 03 Mustang GT that also has a 3.73 gear True duals dumped and a 5 speed and I took it for a run on the street and to my suprise the NT05's hooked up very very well. Better then any street tire I launched on including my old GSD3's. It hooked almost as well as my Nitto 555R's when they are on the street. My brother did say that they are no comparison to the BFG's he was running prior to the NT05's. The BFG's are alot better. Cant say any thing about the NT05's for milage because they have only been on his car about a month. But out of the 2 sets of 555R's I have ran its safe to say if you dont burn them up all the time then you can expect anywhere from 10-15K miles depending on your driving style.

I just put a set of NT-05's on mine and so far I like them. I only have about 100 miles on them, but they do hook!
