Default M&H tires.. anyone???

I was thinking about picking up some 275/50/17 M&H tires. I have run nittos (garbage) BFG's (didnt last very long) and MT's (got them cheap on some 16 inch formy wheels). Anyone running M&H's? I like that they have a bit more sidewall. What are your opinions? how long did they last for you? thanks.

I'm interested in this also, M&H has been around a longtime but never knew anyone who run them.

The only bad thing I've read about them is that they are much narrower than advertised. The 275/50s would probably look really skinny on the back of your car. The 325/45s would look better. You're on a 17x9.5 wheel right?

Check out this thread.

Tubes for a drag radial...I don't think so. Where did you hear this?

M&H has recently changed the mold and they no longer run as narrow as they did. they are very sticky. and for what its worth their customer service is spectacular.

They old mold is VERY skinny, way skinnier than nittos. So skinny that i had them on my car with 17x9.5's and couldnt bring myself to keep them on there despite how sticky they were so i pulled them off to sell them. Ended up getting a new set of the new molds that are significantly wider so im gonna throw these on to see how i like them.

i actually have an older one (from about 6-8 months ago) and a brand new pair of new ones here for a comparison. the new ones are roughly 1.25" wider

For comparisons sake, my current mounted 275/40/17 Mickeys measure roughly 10.5" from outside tread block to outside tread block, the new unmounted M&H 275/50/17 measure roughly 10.25", and the old unmounted 275/50/17 M&H measure roughly 9.0"

i have heard of several people setting new 60ft best with these tires. I plan on running them after I get a 12 bolt. They also run a little tall i think, and this is prob why they hook so well. I also had a friend that had a set, and they hooked VERY well. it was actually hard to get them to spin (with out popping the clutch) on a heads and cam ls1.

When did this mold change occur? How did you find out about it? Is this also the case with the stupid skinny 325/45/17?

I'm interested to know this as well. My 17x11 ZR1s need some new tires and I'd be real interested in some 28" tires for the street.

I have the "skinny" 325s. Look goofy, I admit, but they hook at the track and on the street. Went 1.50 off the foot brake (no spray out of the hole, either) last fall. I'd buy again in a heartbeat. I'll also give their customer service a big "Atta Boy", too.

They hook, we run 4 of the slicks on our truck I'd run tubes with the slicks don't have any experience with the radials

I'm looking into M&H's sizes maybe being accurate now. Just a few months ago, the 325/45/17 drag radial was listed as 12" section width, 10.3" tread width and 10" recommended rim width on their website (I had it written down from last winter). M&H now lists that size on their site as 12.6" section width, 11.3" tread width and 11" rim width........summit and jegs also list the updated measurements........so it appears that M&H might actually label their tires with the correct sizes now. I just emailed them and asked about it, will post the reply when it comes.

the DOT date on my new tires is 1509 so that means mid april of this year so i guess the change was fairly recent. I found out because when i pulled my old ones off to sell them there were some manufacturing defects in one of them (im in the tire industry so i kinda have an eye for this stuff) and since they had changed the mold they replaced both of them for me. im not sure if the change effects other sizes as well

I had a set of 325/45R17's on the car and it DEAD HOOKED. I took them off to go back to a 26" tall tire though.

Have them for sale if anyone is interested, they are the old "skinny" version, but I'll let them go way cheaper than new ones.
