Default Z06 rims

I am looking at some C5 Chrome Z06 rims.. They are 18 inch 9.5 inch wide all around.. My question is would I be fine with 275 40 18 on all 4?? I found some F1's with 70 percent tread on them for 200.00 for all 4.. right now I have the stock 02 WS6 wheels with 275 40 17's.. Thanks..

Your speedo will be off a little, you'll be going something like 4% faster that the speedo says. Other than that there won't be any problems I wouldn't think.

I'd run a 35 instead of a 40 on an 18" wheel. That wouldnt change your speedo and it will look better.

True, but for $200 for four tires, I'd run a 40 a/r. Visibly I kinda doubt you'd notice a big difference.

I run 275/35/18s up front and 275/40/18s in the rear, there's a noticeable difference in side wall height.
With the 274/40/18s up front expect some light rubbing at full-lock.

Thanks for all the replies.. I decided to purchase some Y2K polished wheels with tires on them for 500.00 last night.. Could'nt beat the price.. The tire size is the stock C5 Tire size for the 17's and 18's.. will I run into a problem with these?? I see alot of people run 275/35/18 in the back.. What would happen if I put the rims on with the 275/40/18 on them? Will it just be a messed up speedo??

Depending on the difference of the overall diameter of the front tire and the rear tires, the ABS system may get a bit sensitive . . .

Corvette's ABS is designed for the different diamter tires, F-Cars want tires that are the same overall diameter.

Your front tire is 25.7" tall the rear tire will be 26.7" tall . . . that potentially will be getting the ABS computer all pissy.

No . . a 245/45R17 and a 275/40R17 have the exact same overall diameter . .

Tire size broken down . .

245 = width of tire in milimeter

45 = aspect ratio or percentage of tread width that equals sidewall height.

17 = wheel diameter

Oh and there are 25.4 millmeters in an inch . . .

So:

245/45R17

Tread width: 245 converted to inches is 245 / 25.4 = 9.65"

Sidewall height: 9.65" x 45% = 4.34"

Overall diameter: 4.34" + 4.34" + 17" = 25.68"

275/40R17

Tread width: 275 converted to inches is 275 / 25.4 = 10.83"

Sidewall height: 10.83" x 40% = 4.33"

Overall diameter: 4.33" + 4.33" + 17" = 25.66"

PLUS a 275/40R17 would not fit on an OEM Corvette front wheel.
