Default Tires....hmmm

Ok. So I think i've narrowed down my choices.

I need some new tires. These Kuhmo's i have are 4 years old. Just about shot.

I want the Nitto 555's...But, the BFG G-force sport or super sport are right around the same price and have a $70 rebate from discount tire.

EDIT: The car does not get driven in the snow...and handling is a must

So...opinions?

Nitto 555
BFG G-Force Sport minus 70
BFG G-Force Super Sport minus 70

it really depends on what you want. the super sport is an all season tire, so grip will be compromised because it it made for rain, snow, ice etc... the g force sport has a treadwear of 340 compared to 300 with the 555. id go with the g force sport because it will last a little longer plus you get the rebate

I have G-Force sports in 275/40-17 that I have had for nearly 3 years and about 28,000 miles on them with about 50% tread remaining. They are good tires, not great.

Straightline traction is ok... but don't think this is going to hook very well in 1st gear if you are aggressive on the throttle. Lateral grip seems pretty good. Road noise was not a problem until probably 18,000 or so and then they have slowly increased to the point that they are fairly loud now. Hydro resistance is good, and they have pretty good grip in the rain. Never been in snow or on ice, but I imagine they would do pretty poorly. As you can see I managed to get a lot of miles out of mine (no burnouts or parking lot donuts)... I think I ran these at the drag strip only 2 different occasions.

Overall I say a decent tire for the money, but I am probably going to try something like a Potenza Re760 next time around.

Oh and as for the choices, leave out the all season if you never see snow. I would probably do the BFG G-sports if it was just between that or the 555's. Better treadwear and probably similar cornering.
