Default Difficult rim decisons. Help me out!

Ok I went to the shop today and of all the choices he gave me I fell on this.

http://www.wheelsnext.com/wheels-rim...k%20gloss.html

I want to put 18's on with yokohoma 245 tires. This is all going on a black 2002 firebird.

I was also seriously considering black z06 motorsport rims. The mechanic was offish about this because he wants to deal with his friend company that sells these drifz venom rims. The whole tire/installation/rim package is $1350.

So, do these rims fit the look of the car?! I dont know much about photoshop so could anyone give me a picture of it on a black firebird?

Thanks. Help me decide

It all depends on what YOU want. You need to get what you like and not what everyone else likes. I personally work with oe wheels and love the products and the prices and you can even get a set of rims and tires together already mounted and balanced.

I personally like chrome wheels on black cars rather then the all black look but thats just me.

those look nice just get the off set right and get as much lip as you can. I would go stagered 18x9 front 18x10 or 11 out back

I agree, these would look very nice and difference and as quoted above get as much lip as possible. they would look sick.

Thanks for bringing us up Kane.

Jedelste, If you see any of our products you like, just call in for a quote on tires. We do pretty well with the forum members.

Looks like a nice wheel. 245's are too small though, you want at least a 275 front and rear.

And what Z06's are you thinking? PLEASE, PLEASE don't go with C5 Z's, ESPECIALLY not the motorsports. I swear those are the ugliest wheels, I can't for the life of me figure out why so many people run them.

And who cares what the mechanic wants?? It's your car. Unless he can get you a smokin' deal on them through his guy, get whatever you want, or find another place to get them.

Dude safe some money by getting them on ebay, adr makes the exact same wheels and you can get them for like a little over 400, and the tires since you want 245's would be like less than 400 on tirerack!

Yaaa I am slowly losing interest in the c5 z06 rims. I know I can do something a little more edgy. By no means is the mechanic making the choice. He showed me these and they caught my eye and so far I am gettin thumbs up from you guys. I just didn't want to look ricey, if you know what I mean.

The yokohoma all season tires I am looking at are about $760 with installation. The black venom rims I am looking at are about $590 which isn't half bad. He said for 1350 he could have me sittin on a blacked out firebird. I feel as if this is a decent price.

I agree completely the more lip the better which is why I may have to upgrade my tire package to fit a rim with a wider lip.

Thanks for the recomendation oe wheels. I like your products and your prices, but not sure I want to be another firebird sittin on corvette wheels. I am kinda diggin this look as of now. Anybody got photoshop skills and want to put a black firebird on these rims for me???

$1350 doesn't really seem like a decent price with how skinny of a tire you'd be running. And do you realize how bad 245 all seasons would be? Even on a bolt-on LT1, I didn't have traction until 3rd gear on all season 245's. I've only got about $1300-$1400 invested in my new wheel/tire setup, and I'm running 18x10.5 OEWheels C5 Y2k deep dishes on all 4 corners, with 275's up front, and 335 DR's out back. And now I've got all the traction I could ever ask for. If you're spending that much, you're going to be disappointed with the outcome, when you decide you want to put the pedal to the floor. Not to mention, 245's just look retardedly skinny out back, and up front even.

Do yourself a favor and take our advice. I once made the mistake of buying 245's as a replacement and it was probably the dumbest purchased I made since I've owned my car. Get at least a 275 for the rear. I run 295's on the rear and 275's on the front. He he can't get you what you want then you need to deal with someone else.

I completely agree. The reason for 245's were to have a tire that I could rotate. I think I may just forget rotation and get 275 on the rear and 245 up front. I have decided to go with the ADR M-sport 18x8.5 rims with a 5x120.65 bolt pattern. This should fit snugly onto my car.

Now I am sittin on the decision to either go with black gloss or hyperblack. Uhhhhh the decisions

After hours of looking through companies and pictures of rims I finally made a decision. I ordered these today!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ADR-8...#ht_3524wt_798

I went with ADR M-sport black gloss on 18x8.5 with a 5x120.65 bolt pattern. The offset is 35. These rims are alloy one piecers so I think I will be happy about them.

Yes they are. This specific rim only comes in a 19x9.5 otherwise I am stuck in the 18x8.5 situation. I don't like the size of 19s so you can see why I went with this size. I only have a V6 firebird so I dont have the rear traction issues you guys deal with. I hope to put the largest tire a 8.5 can fit on the rear and for now, use my old 235 up front. I know you guys are all pro 9.5+ with 275+ but that doesn't seem to be workin out for me unless I get corvette rims (not interested).

My next decision is on how tall of a wheel I want. I don't have the funds for springs yet (next upgrade I'm getting). I am thinking to go with a 255/40/18 on the rear. Any other advice or comments are great.

Rims should be in on next Monday and on the car by Wednesday

Go with a 40 series, otherwise your car is going to look like a 4x4 i have 275/40/18 they rub a little but the 255/40/18 should not rub. But if you go with a 40 series tire than the rim is going to look smaller, like a 17 inch wheel because of the lip! So now you have more decisions to make!

40 Series sounds about right. I think I am gettin all season yokohoma tires. I haven't ordered them yet so if you guys know of any good tires for all season, drop a comment. I'm also considering 255 all around, but not sure if I'll have any rub issues up front. The goal is to be able to rotate these so I have to use the same tire size all around.

Soooo 245/40/18 or 255/40/18 hmmmmmmmm
