Default MT Slicks blow apart on the Dyno

I put my car on the dyno today and kept the MT Slicks on. The tires only have 4, 1/4 passes or so. After 4 pulls I looked at the tires and the drivers side had 3 large chucks missing on the in side and out side of the rubber. 16 psi. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem?

You put your car on the dyno with bias ply slicks and were surprised when they came apart? Should have at least put some more air in them. Dynos are really hard on all tires, especially soft drag tires.

I didn't know that. Good safety tip.
The dyno operator should have known better.

I've called 3 different dyno's seeing about prices and each one of them told me I could not run Drag Radials or Slicks on their dyno. Each one of them said I would have to have a street tire or radial on the back.

Dyno operator should have known better.

Well it's a lesson learned. I know lots of people who have done the same thing and no issues. This post is for people to see what not to do.

I've seen and ran many cars with slicks and drag radials on dynos and never seen this happen, also never heard of it happening. Now that I see this, I will never do that again. Sorry to hear about this happing to you. BTW, nice wheels.

wow!

We have ran many cars on our dyno in which some have been at 1100+ rwhp on slicks and never had an issue. We always run 25 psi in the tires which may help.

just not sure how a dyno can rip a chunk of tire off
