Default 15" Greg Welds front and rear on my 4th gen f-body w/ pics

Now for sale BECAUSE I wasn't willing to buy rear drag brakes and feel the grinding was too extreme for even the LT1 rear calipers. These would be great for S10s, blazers, old school gm cars, 5 lug mustangs (because it is dual bolt pattern dictated by which washer you use, center or offset).

The Greg Weld Design product was imported from China, just like all the other cast wheels sold in the US today.

well thanks for the ray of sunshine...guess I'll go look at the boxes afterall. Well crap, they saved 4lbs/wheel over the knockoff ones anyway.

given the choice I'd not buy these if grinding brakes bothers you. Def. buy something more main stream.

Default Update

I'm man enough to admit it.

Thanks to all the guys who PMd me out of concern for the fitment of these wheels.

First, all of the brake failures I'm aware of after extreme caliper grinding are LS1 rears. They have the huge hole in the caliper design which makes them weaker to grinding. Plus, the rotor is bigger adding for the need of extra grinding.

However, i don't feel safe w/ the amount of grinding I did. The wheels are coming off and going to be sold cheap. THey'll fit mustangs w/ the dual-by-washer offset bolt pattern. I'll sell them to a mustang guy or a drum brake GM car (cutlass/monte/etc).

Guys, my kids ride in this car. Drag brakes don't make sense as I drive it a good bit. New LT1 calipers are going on this week, street wheels back on, and punt for new drag setup later.

After sleeping on it...just can't wheel this way, too dangerous.

Those fins on the caliper are there for structural support of the exterior of the caliper, not for cooling or looks. Once those are gone its just the thin aluminum facing holding it together.

Not a wise idea. A little trim is one thing, but the amount of material I took off to fit is not.

If I'd read on here I would have known, but was hard headed.

Thanks guys.

I had to grind for my rear pro stars..though i didnt take off as much as you. I sometimes wonder if i'll ever have a problem. Seems to be alot of people have done it with no trouble. What would be needed to put LT1 calipers on the rear of my car? I picked up a LT1 set and an extra LS1 set for $10 each Thought maybe they would clear without grinding. Or i've even considered just switching the grinded brakes for the untouched ones when the street wheels are on.

I've driven ground rear LT1 calipers for 9 years w/o a problem. This issue is these particular wheels have a big step-up in the wheel ring that causes interferance that calls for more grinding than anyone should have to do.

Now...lots of guys put lt1 rear brakes on 98+ cars because most drag wheels fit w/ little or no grinding. If running 15s I'd suggest LT1 rear b/c there's virtually no danger in the amt of small trimming you'd do.

If you find yourself getting into the "fins" on the backside of the caliper you've gone too far. A little off the front, no big deal.

keep it that way unless you get drag brakes, just to be safe.

a lot of V6s had drums...which would fit you PERFECT! Even if you have rear disk I don't think they'd be 11.5" disk.

I've got these listed in the FS forum

I agree...somewhat. The square holes in the wheels for whatever reason seem to suit boxy old school as you say...but also S10s and blazers too. These would fit either of them. Got a lot of chatter but no money yet!!

i didn't realize the V6s had the big brakes in the rear. Thats great for you and great for parts picking!

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope its not a long term issue that some R&R won't take care of.
