Default New tires idea

Another tires topic...Anyway, I have the 02 WS6 Speedline wheels on my t/a with 275 tires. It's time for some new tires. Would I be able to install a skinnier tire on these wheels, say 255?

I wanna go skinnier because I don't need wide tires. I drive the car daily. I don't race or anything like that. I notice with wide tires, they follow the groove of the road and sometimes it gets annoying. Living in NYC, the streets are terrible. I just want something that gives a comfortable and decent grip.

you can go with a 255, but id stick with the 275s. they fit perfectly on the wheel. you can downgrade the quality of the tire if you are worried about cost and care more about treadwear

IMO, I would go with a different brand and/or model of tire, And have the alignment checked.
FYI, not all 275/40/17 tire are going track the groves in the road, so just going to a narrower tire doesn't mean you won't still have the same problem.
I would stick with the 275/40/17s, but the ultimate choice is your!

I ran a 255 width snow tire on the 17x9 ZR1s that I had on my SS - it looked goofy as all hell. They worked okay (don't remember if they tracked the imperfections in the road much or not), but damn they were ugly...they just looked too thin.

Ah, I didn't think about that. I'll stick with 275's then. How are the g-Force Super Sport A/S tires?
