Anyone running these? and how wide of a rim do u need? are they wider than the 275/40/17s?

They will fit on a stock 17x9.5" rim up to a 11" rim. I've heard they are only a tad wider than a 275 on a 9.5" rim.

True. I'm running them on 17x9 10-spoke SS wheels at the moment, they barely look any wider than my 275/40s up front. Just a bit taller. IMO they would look kinda goofy on a 11" wheel.

They are 27.2" tall, just over 1.5" taller than stock. Yes they will impact your gear ratio.

You can tell in this pic of my car that they are taller than the fronts...

They are 27.2 inches tall so yes they will knock your gear ratio down. If you have 3.42's now they will make them act like 3.25's.

True.

My speedo is currently programmed for 4.10s and a 25.5" tire....but now with the 4.30s and 27.2" tires, the speedo is only 1 mph off at 60mph (GPS verified)

So I guess you could say these tires make my 4.30s feel like 4.10s...

Especially if you are only running 3.42's. Would hurt you more than anything to go with a taller tire.
