1/4 time same after 4.10's/slicks wtf!?!? Do I need a taller tire?
Just like the title says, with the mods in my sig having stock 3.42 gears and running on 18" sumitomos I ran a best of 12.78 @ 118.1 w/ 2.2 60'
A few weeks later I swapped in some 4.10 gears and got some 26x11.5x16 M/T slicks and still ran a 12.70 @ 116.6 w/ 1.99 60'
Here are the actual times off the slips:
Stock gears/street tires
So it looks like it does a little better down low, but then I dont know if its running out of gear at the end? Like it needs a 28" tire or something. I mean the car feels really responsive now with the gears. But I was told the 26" would of been good with the 3.42 gears, but now since I got the 4.10's I need taller tires. Is this true?

1. you dont mention temperatures. . .
2. the car in your sig is M6, and that makes a difference...how many passes did you make w/the new gears? It takes more than 2-3 to get used to them and get out of them what they can do.
3. you don't mention what rpm you're LAUNCHING at (not leaving off idle I hope)

Well first the car is tuned, but not re-tuned after the gears
The weather was almost the same both nights, around mid 70's.
I only got two runs in that night because all the cars and my first run was wasted b/c of a miss-shift.
Since i have the stock rear w/ slicks on, I launched around 3600 rpm's. I wanted to go higher but didn't want to break anything. I launched the same also when I used street tires.

from what I've heard 4:10's on the track don't show a huge gain in ET.
I don't know too much about it, but the LT1 section has some knowledgable posters that can help or try the Gears and Axles section. I would guess the gears are just moving the powerband around, gaining on the low end and losing a little on the top end?

your 60' sucks.... you need more seat time. i bet with someone who knows how to launch that car you will see a huge improvement. no offense, just lookin at your slips you are in dire need of more seat time.

Let's see your dyno sheet.. I'm guessing that you're probably out of the powerband of your engine...
I know trapping only a 114, I was tached out pretty high going through the traps with my 4.10's, but my car isn't built for drags.
