Default 2000 ss ten spokes tires

i have a 2000 ss i recently bought with the gm ten spokes and i need new tires. i know these came with 275/40/17 size tires... but the ones on there right now are 245's. i thought 245 was too small of a width for a 17x9 wheel. how did my current tires(245/45/17) fit on there?

First off congrats on the new ride . They're addicting I've had my 00 SS for 2 years now and its a never ending hobby.

Second most people say you can run down to a 255 safely. A 245 would stretch a bit to fit, not to mention look below-par IMO. I've seen drifter's throw like a 225 on an 11" rim before stretched to the limit. Looks like hell, doesn't offer any rim protection, and isn't safe at all. They do it because they say it limits sidewall flex. Just do yourself a favor and get the stock sized 275/40r17's. They will look loads better, and be a better tire for it as well IMO.

alright thanks. its just a lot harder to find a 275/40r17 than 245/45/17. theres a set of brand new 245's for 125, and i cant find 275's anywhere but i will keep looking

I have these on the front of my car, and 295/35/18's on the rear. I like them alot. They have good handling and traction, last a while, and are CHEAP!
