Default 315's on a stock 17x9 SS 10 Spoke??

Hey guys hoping you can help me out. I'm buying new tires and am wondering which tire combo I should go with along with what sizes would perform/look the best. I have the stock 17x9 SS 10 spokes and am wanting a drag radial in the back, now it's between Nittos or ET Streets in the back and how wide can I go? Should I go with the 275/40/17? or is it possible I could fit a 315/40/17 in the back on the stock rim size? or 1) would it look stupid? 2) Not fit very well? 3) have drawbacks because the tire is so much wider compared to the rim size?

Now for the front should I'm going with the stock 275/40/17 size but would like a tire that has great traction and high cornering ability..... would BFG KD's be my best bet?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Pics of any related combinations would also be beneficial. (Especially 315's on a 17x9 rim)

YES
or is it possible I could fit a 315/40/17 in the back on the stock rim size?
NO but many will tell you yes. Per manufacturere recommendation 315's require a 10.5" wide wheel MINIMUM.
or 1) would it look stupid?
It will look very stupid, the tire will be bulged and actually defeat the purpose of a wide tire since the full tread width will not be able to contact the ground
2) Not fit very well?
No it will fit very poorly
3) have drawbacks because the tire is so much wider compared to the rim size?
The car will feel loose and "wobble' in the back since the sidewall and tread are not properly seated.
Now for the front should I'm going with the stock 275/40/17 size but would like a tire that has great traction and high cornering ability..... would BFG KD's be my best bet?
Mixing drag radials and "cornering" tire wouldn't net you the best results, a good cornering tire has very stiff side walls, a drag radial has very soft sidewalls, thus two different aminals in tires.

I was reading up on ET Streets and they said they have a very stiff side wall?

Should I go with ET Streets in the back, and BFG KD's in the front?

Mickey Thompson® ET Street®
Nylon, black, tubetype

STATE OF THE ART CONSTRUCTION
D.O.T. APPROVED
WRINKLE WALL Stiff????? In comparison to what?

WARNING: ET Street tires have passed D.O.T. requirements but have reduced tread depth and compounds designed for racing. Due to the reduced tread depth these tires should be used on dry pavement only and are not suitable for normal highway use!

I have BFG G-Force T/A KD's on all 4's on my SS. 275/40 17 up front and 295/35 18 in out back. As far as grip is concerned, I would not trade these tires for anything else. They grip like crazy when warm on the street and track and in a corner, it is the best tire i have ever experienced, it's on the edge grip is incredible and easy to manipulate. Obviously with a tire like this, you sacrifice tread life and driveability as far as weather goes. My opinion, best all around tire for dry weather performance.
