Default How much do you gain?

How much do you guys usually pick up by switching from heavy aftermarket wheels to a big/little setup?

Here's what I've been running. Stock LS1 camaro 5 spoke in the rear which I've read are 26 lbs a piece, tires are MT ET Streets, and 17x9.5 Z06 replicas on the front which I've read are 25.4lbs a piece, tires are 275/45/17 Kuhmo MX.

I couldn't find the weights for draglites, which is what I'll be running but for pro stars it says the weights are

13lb rear 15.10
10lb front skinny

This is all of course not counting tire weight.

I figure I'm dropping a total of 56ish lbs NOT counting the lesser weight of the tires on the front, because I'm sure the skinnys will weigh a lot less than the 275's.

Isn't 50lbs of reciprocating weight like dropping 100lbs out of the car?

I'm sure the lesser rolling resistance will help too.

I'd guess .2 in the quarter.

I'd agree. I was running 18x10's on all 4's with Nitto DRs and ran a best of 12.35 NA. Bought some summitt stars 15x3.5 up front and 15x8 in the rear and ran a 12.12..

There is a lot more tire on the rear than a 275 on a 17 so the tire weights aren't going to be too comparable. I say you drop a .1 or .2 at the track, mainly due to traction and the lighter wheels up front. On the dyno, you will free up probably 10RWHP (you don't technically gain anything ).

Remember, MightyMouse is running 8's on 17" wheels and an M/T DR, and on his old Formula, 9's (less power) on 17" Z06 Replicas and M/T DR's. .
