Default Has anyone put regular tires on GTO spares? Whats the smallest 17" tire available

So I bought a set of GTO spares which are 17X4 what is the smallest street tire I can run. I know I can use a MH, MT, etc.... but is there a street tire I can run that will fit on a 4" rim??? Smallest 17" tire I found was a 175???

why on earth would you want to run 17x4 rims?

are you thinking skinnies up front????

this is what I'd do (again, lol):

that would make sence but ive seen a lot of people put straight up spares on front for skinnys fresh out of the trunk lol...regular tires would be a lot safer...

still what better way to get rid of them spare tires than a nice ol smokey 1 minute long burnout? lol (he won the burnout competition by the way, 2008 champ! lmao)

They aren't donuts like an fbody donut. GTO spares are a 5 spoke wheel, and look pretty descent IMO.

In my opinion GTO spares look pretty cool on Fbodies. They need a spacer on the front to clear so you kind of have to add that into the price.

HAHA What the hell did I miss. HAHA. Yeah I have NO desire to put a temporary tire on the front of a 600hp Z smashing down the track. I bought the spares on Friday and had the tires pulled off. I knew M&H had 17" skinnies but for about $300 a set I was looking for another option. First and foremost is saftey so it looks like I know my option. My setup will be alittle different from the C5 in the pictures. I am going to take the GTO spares and have the lettering on the faces removed and have them repowdercoated black. I also bought a set of ZR1 17"s that look almost identical in style (5 spoke) and also having them powdercoated as well. This will be my "poor mans" drag pack. I heard the complete setup is alittle lighter then the CCW drag pack as well. HAHA

You have a Vette and can't afford some nice drag wheels?

Homey- Theres a big differance between "affording" a nice drag pack, and wanting to spend $3K on wheels and tires.

Nevermind that last part. Whether its true or not, yes I can go buy a nice setup if I wanted but what I am doing is just fine for me.

Here is my total investment. I dont drag more then 4-5 times a year so I look at it as a wise investment when my street tires run me about $1800 alone. Thats just tires. Here is the smart mans drag pack then I guess. HAHA
Front MH runners $250
front spacers $50
Front GTO spares FREE (about $150 though)
rear Zr1's $100
rear MT DR's $200
powder coating of all 4 wheels to look good. $160

So as you can see I have $760 invested and will be very pleased. I can then take that $1500 I saved and put it elsewhere.

Yeah, I spent a little more because my car is more of a drag car than a street car. My Cobra is my street car, so I just keep a set of 18s on it. For what you're doing, it will be perfect.
