Default drag radial ???

i can get a set of Nitto 555 drag radials from work. 2 shipped to me for about $250. my question is this... how do they compare to MT's? traction, handling, wear ect.

thanks in advance!

There's two different kinds of 555's. One are stickier (lower TWR) than the other. A friend out west got the higher tread ware 555 and his traction wasn't that great on his GTO.

The cannot compare to MT traction.

They are a much friendlier street/track tire and still provide plenty of traction for cars up to ~400rwhp; they just take longer to heat up.

I use a 275 555R on my 380rwhp C6 and they hold up just fine at the track. I had MT before on this car and actually felt it was too agressive for the car while still having the stock converter.

They are great in the rain when they still have decent tread, which you cannot say about any other drag radial.
BTW I'm near St. Louis and my Nitto 555Rs are almost shot; can you by any chance hook other people up with that deal?

Are you going to the track a lot? 6 speed? Auto? How much power are you making? If you plan on needing them(going to the track or on the stree) the MTs are much better.

If you drive it everyday..Nittos!

How many miles a month do you drive? Nitto drag radials will last a lot longer than other drag radials but still not as long as a regular street tire. And you may still have trouble hooking up with a 6-speed; sometimes I still spin them a little with my stock-stalled auto (but sometimes they dead hook). Your 10-bolt will probably be safe. A lot stickier than a rain tire though. It's a good compromise. I bought an extra pair of wheels for them (identical to my everyday ones) and just swap them on when I'm going to the track to make them last.

the mickeys are far better than nitto, how ever when the mickeys loose tread life you wont be driving in the rain with them. the nittos did ok in the rain when i had them, but i hated the nittos for track use. i had both tires and choose mt over nitto
