Default Tires with 450whp and a stock 10b w/4.10's

I'm looking to get some new tires for my car this weekend but I'm not sure what to do. I'd like to get some 555r's in the back and some NT05's in the front.

The problem is that people have been telling me to stay away from a drag radial with the stock 10 bolt since I'm on borrowed time. My thought is, I don't take it to the track much, nor do I ever really dump it above 2500 rpm's when I do go since I'm afraid of breaking the rear.

Is it safe to go with the 555r's in the back? Or should I do NT05's all around?

I would go with a DR if you aren't going to be launching it hard. Just take it easy from a stop, and don't slam the 1 to 2 and you will be fine. Driving around on regular old street tires with anything over 400rwhp gets kind of old pretty quick.

Go with a DR, and don't be stupid (not saying you are).

^ Yeah.. If it's a DD get the NT05.. I may be biased, but they last longer than the 555s. They stick great for a street car, and yeah run of the mill street tires gets old after a while.

I've been following your thread on your NT05's and the reviews I read are incredible. My original thought was to run these all the way around, then once I put in a rear end, get some slicks for track days

The guy that posted in my thread made a lot of sense.. They stick better cold vs the 555's but the 555's stick better when hot/warmed up. So it really depends on what you will be using them for. Street use and you need traction without warming them up, get the 05's. I think driving alone warms them up enough for them to be an effective street tire. I broke them loose after a highway run once going under the HW crossing. But I was in first and the pavement was cold. So it was prolly the weather.. and I'm not even sure if they DID brake loose, it just tacked quick and I didn't feel the rear move at all. My other ones would get loose REAL easy.

I ran 315 width Nitto 555Rs on my car with a 10 bolt with 4.10s for many years, hitting it with a 125 shot of nitrous. Car was making right at 450 rwhp and 488 rwtq with a small cam and dry shot. I went through three sets of those DRs and the rear never had an issue. Just remember that tire spin is your friend. If you dead hook, that's when things will blow up. The 555Rs are great on the street. Not so great at the track.

Are you comparing the NT05r or the NT05?
