Unhappy Help,im cleaning my zr1's

I have oewheels polished zr1's that are very hazed and they have a lot of water spots on them.I tried to clean them with mothers mag and aluminum polish but it didn't work...I was wondering if maybe I should wet sand them with maybe 2000 grit?and then clean them up again with the mothers?any input would be very helpful, thanks guys

I have chrome ZR1's, and I use a claybar. It takes some work, but will get every last bit of grime off.

I have been re-finishing my polished TT2's over the past week. They have a very dull look to them with some pitting. I wet sanded them with 2000 grit sandpaper, and 1000 grit where the pitting was worse. Then polished them up with mothers mag and aluminum polish. They look brand new. Just remember when you are sanding them, any scratches you can see before you polish them, you will see after you polish them.

I have thought about using a rubbing compound on them too, but im not sure if that would be too coarse or not.

the mothers power ball works really well, but use it with a electric drill and the mothers billet polish. Buy the cone powerball.

Harbor Freight has a cotton cloth polishing attachment for a power drill. It's like $3.

I've use that on SO many things and it polishes them better than my powerball ever had. (my 2nd powerball is still in the top of the tree at my old house, because the 2nd time I used it on the WS6 wheels, it ripped itself in half )

I've also used chrome polish with a dremel & the polyester polishing bits...Works amazingly well for lots of things.

dang man, that came out nice. how long did the process take you? thats a lot of wheel to wet sand to get that outcome.

yea but your rims at the time looked beyond even trying to polish, but good save. How much time did it take per each wheel?

Yea you cant get crazy with the power ball,i used it on my motorcycle rims, had some pm wheels on my turbo gsxr 1100 and it did the job.The foam is very flexible, but thats what makes it prone for rips,if you get it caught on back edges, center of rim.

Its not something that you can do in 10 mnts, will take a lil bit of time, but for what it is,worked good for me.Also works good for chrome rims.

It took around 5 hours to do it all, including wet sanding, polishing, and waxing. I did it all by hand also.

well i started around 8 something and ended right AT 1PM , YEAH i didnt get nowhere except a hurt back and fingers hurting as hell. I used 2000 grit paper to wet sand them and mothers power ball with mothers mag aluminum polish. they look the same as they did before , sucks that i spent so long cleaning them. Now im going to paint them black or sale them and buy new rims , this pissed me off

edit maybe cause I didnt wax them?...
