Default what size wheel spacer?

Some fool who had my car before me has put 235 width tires on it. Im buying some new tires because it just looks to narrow in the back with em. Im assuming 255 is the widest tire i can put on the stock 16 in. trans am rim, but was wondering if i could run a wheel spacer to bring the tires out and get a little wider look. IS there a width i can use without having to get longer studs? Or will i need longer studs with even a thin spacer. Im not tryin to get crazy with it, just would like a little wider stance with my stock rims, till i get some new wheels on it. thanks

IMO: just wait until you get new wheels and run with the 255s
